SEPTEMBER 27TH – 29TH, 2021
FINAL NOTICE, UPDATED AGENDA WITH GUEST SPEAKERS, DIGITAL KIT,
HOW TO WIN AN IPAD AND SIGNED BOOKS

September 24, 2021

Dear Chiefs Council, sister organizations, and friends:

The 53rd Annual General Assembly (AGA) will take place September 27th - September 29th, 2021 with registration door prizes each day. The theme this year is “Truth, Justice and Reconciliation” and we are pleased to be joined by Kukpi7 Rosanne Casimir and the language and cultural department from Tk’emlúps te Secwépemec to sing the Secwepemc Honour Song for the children, as preparation for the very first National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. We invite meeting attendees to wear orange to raise awareness about the ongoing intergenerational impacts of Indian Residential Schools, and to  honour survivors and veterans, their families, and all the children who were forced to attend. Because it is the AGA, we respectfully ask members to register and attend to address organizational business such as passing the audit and accepting minutes from the previous year, as well as setting mandates for the upcoming year.

Attached, please find a proxy template letter as well as a membership letter. Please contact Tracy Point ([email protected] or 604-831-4265) if you have not yet renewed your membership for the current fiscal. Per the UBCIC Constitution and Bylaws, only members in good standing in the current fiscal year (April 1st 2021 to March 31st 2022) may speak from the floor or vote on resolutions brought forward during the meeting.

DOOR PRIZES

UBCIC is offering three chances to win at this year's AGA for Chiefs and Proxies. At the end of each day, the UBCIC will draw a name from among those attendance to win a selection of fantastic door prizes including signed copies of Jody Wilson-Raybould’s new book "Indian" in the Cabinet: Speaking Truth to Power, and a grand prize 10.2 inch iPad!

Join the virtual AGA each day for your chance to win!
