No More Sunny Ways: UBCIC Appalled as Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott are Ejected from Liberal Caucus

(Coast Salish Territories/Vancouver, B.C. – April 2, 2019) Earlier today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the removal of former Attorney General and Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould and former Treasury Board President Jane Philpott from the federal Liberal caucus and dropped them as election candidates for the party.

This event is an opportunity for BC Chiefs, delegates, and experts to discuss the legislative and regulatory framework, First Nations jurisdiction, economic development opportunities, and health considerations. A strategy report flowing from the forum will highlight priorities for the First Nations Leadership Council to help guide their engagement on the Joint Working Group on the Legalization and Regulation of Non-Medical Cannabis.

Open Letter: UBCIC Urges BC to Address the Risks Orphan Gas and Oil Wells Pose to the Environment and Welfare of Citizens and First Nations

In light of Auditor General’s Report on The BC Oil and Gas Commission’s Management of Non-Operating Oil and Gas Sites, it has become apparent that the burgeoning oil and gas industry in this province continues to pose unacceptable risks to the environment and the well-being of British Columbian residents, including First Nations Peoples.
